The AG Animationsfilm has submitted several position papers in recent weeks. In May, stakeholders were invited at very short notice to comment on the draft Media Services Investment Obligation Act (MedienInvestVG). However, as the legislation was passed only one week later, with few significant changes, it can be assumed that the submitted comments were not taken into consideration.
In addition, we submitted a position paper on the revision of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) funding guidelines for feature film and TV/VOD productions.
Together with the VTFF – Association of Technical Service Providers for Film & Television (Verband Technischer Betriebe Film & Fernsehen e.V.) and the bvft – Professional Association of Film Sound (Berufsvereinigung Filmton e.V.), we also prepared a joint position paper on the regulations concerning production service providers.
The draft guidelines introduce numerous changes to the German film funding system. From the perspective of the animation industry, however, the specific requirements of animation productions are not yet adequately reflected in all areas. The position papers highlight these challenges and propose concrete amendments.
