Information About and for the German Animation Industry

We regularly provide information on key topics and challenges facing the animation sector. We are active at festivals, conferences, and industry events, engage in advocacy work, and organize talks, panels, and workshops on a regular basis.

Among the issues we are particularly committed to are film funding, distribution, networking, film policy, accessibility, equal opportunities, and media law.

In 2015, AG Animationsfilm conducted an anonymous industry survey examining the working and living conditions of animation professionals in Germany. The survey addressed topics such as income, living conditions, and retirement provision.

In 2018, AG Animationsfilm commissioned a study examining the representation of animation within German television programming.

This study, published in 2021, explores the possibility of standardizing job titles and professional roles within the animation industry. One of its aims is to simplify the assessment of which positions qualify as creative authorship roles for collecting society purposes, particularly in relation to VG Bild-Kunst.
